The Importance of Literature in Video Games – Luis León

Video games are often perceived as being distractful and a waste of time. In common knowledge, they are short of being of cultural relevance. However, video games have a firm root and connection with literature. Most critically acclaimed video games have been designed by people with a strong foundation in storytelling, with many works demanding a great deal of critical thinking from their players. This talk aims to provide a basis for furthering those connections.

Luis León graduated with a degree in Game Design and has already worked on multiple video game projects, he likes to specialize in narrative design. In his works, games like “The Wandering” or “Epithymía” seek to explore the relationship between video games and literature. Luis has also co-created and participated in multiple analysis spaces dedicated to interactive entertainment.
