Interested in starting a DesCan chapter in your city? We have a support system in place to help you grow and succeed.

DesCan volunteers have been uniting the Canadian design communications community through a chapter-model for more than 65 years. All chapters share the vision, mission, and values of the Design Professionals of Canada.

An evolving chapter model

Our organization’s success comes from the power of its volunteers. Students, designers, educators, and businesses are connected through chapters. Chapters in cities allows our members the unique opportunity to network locally, express the culture and nuance of their city while at the same time being able to leverage country-wide resources and knowledge.

Now, all DesCan chapters have direct support from the National Operating Committee (NOC) for all matters related to treasury, accounting, tax filings, ethics, and CDP Certification.

Simply put — many logistics of running a chapter are now removed enabling chapters to focus their efforts on community engagement, networking, and events.

Benefits of having a chapter in your city:

Promote events that are relevant and contextual to your city

Provide opportunity for local designers to network

Connect with the other chapters nationwide

Represent your city at a national level

Receive support from DesCan national

3 members to press go!

Just three members are required to start your chapter and one member must be CDP™ Certified. Chapters are run by volunteers and designed to be completely scalable. Uniting as a DesCan chapter is meant to be a fun and rewarding way to connect with like-minded designers in your city.
