Johnathon brings a wealth of creative leadership and systems-thinking experience, having supported numerous organizations in effectively navigating growth, while remaining true to their core values and culture. An expert in capacity-building, he has enabled organizations to work collaboratively to achieve their strategic vision by developing, implementing and sharing his experience within intergovernmental relations, First Nations, system and service design, not-for-profit boards, advisory committees, professional practices and ethics, and facilitated engagement. Johnathon’s direct experience building teams to form a welcoming culture of support, managing communications between department and organizations, and directing the implementation of strategic plans across multiple disciplines in a professional manner, is a tremendous asset in evolving organizations looking to create positive social impact. Johnathon most recently focused his experience and commitments to the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw, Squamish Nation in his role as Chief of Staff. He worked closely with Council and across departments to provide strategic oversight and leadership in the areas of project management, communications, governance, and Council administrative support, in alignment with the values and goals highlighted in the Squamish Nation Strategic Plan. As COO of Tomorrow Creative Services, Johnathon channeled his vast experience in multi-disciplinary design fields and facilitated the necessary conversations with organizational leaders seeking transformational change. As President of the International Council of Design (ICoD), Johnathon brought decades of experience and involvement in the applied arts, encouraging growth and change in creative industries, challenging and contributing to the contemporary fabric of system and service design needs required today, and tomorrow. He founded the brand strategy and communications agency The Notice Group in 2000, is the former Director of Creative Services for HCMA Architecture +Design, Past President of the Design Professionals of Canada (formerly the Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC)), previous GDC National Ethics Chair, and Past President of the Canadian Association of Professional Image Creators (CAPIC) Vancouver. He is also a founding committee member, organizer, and co-host of CreativeMornings Vancouver and Interesting Vancouver.
