What is Human Designed™?
These days, it can be nearly impossible to distinguish between artwork generated by AI and human design. The Human Designed mark allows DesCan members to declare that designated projects have been created entirely without the use of generative AI.
People who value human creativity and authenticity need a way to know that a human created the work. The Human Designed mark allows the viewer to clearly and quickly discern that the project was made entirely by a human.
DesCan is constantly advocating on behalf of Canadian designers
Many designers are worried that they will lose work to generative AI. Some already have. But we’re also seeing a trend of people valuing human creativity and hungry for things made by human minds, hands, and souls.
We see this shift as a competitive advantage for professional designers. To that end, we’re announcing a new initiative that will help Canadian designers label their work as Human Designed and will help employers and clients easily identify human design work.
Human Designed™
A mark that distinguishes projects created entirely without the use of generative AI.
By agreeing to the established parameters, DesCan members can elect to use the Human Designed mark to differentiate projects created without the use of generative AI.
This mark is optional for DesCan members. There is no mandate for members to stop using generative AI in their design work, they simply would opt out of using the mark on those projects. The mark may only be used on a project-by-project basis, it is not permitted to be used as a blanket statement.
The mark has been built to work with our current DesCan brand, using letter shapes borrowed from the former GDC logo.
