Long Description

We are currently searching for an experienced, professional and customer focused Design & Social Media Specialist to support our Marketing team at our Head Office in Halifax. This position will be working closely with Killam’s Design Manager and its Web and Social Media Manager.

Responsibilities:

The role will have two key focuses, those being 1) driving Killam’s Social Media creative content and 2) assisting Killam’s in-house Graphic Designer with various other creative requirements.

Specific tasks relating to Social Media include:

•    Create engaging text, image and/or video content for the organization’s corporate Social Media Channels

•    Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms and trends to ensure maximum effectiveness

•    Develop and maintain the organization’s monthly content calendar

•    Oversee social media accounts’ layout

•    Suggest new ways to attract prospective customers, like promotions and competitions.

•    Attend events and produce live social media content.

Specific tasks relating to Graphic Design include:

•    Creating graphic design and copy including all forms of print and digital creative.

•    Revising existing in-house ad/marketing programs.

•    Creating marketing and digital Floor Plans for new development collateral.

•    Designing Wayfinding and other signage creation.

•    Producing high-quality PowerPoint presentations.

•    Creating simple, in-house videography

•    Providing general content editing and proof-reading.

•    Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

•    Demonstrated experience (with corresponding portfolio) in graphic design and ad/copy across a variety of print and social mediums.

•    Direct experience using social media management tools (Hootsuite)

•    Experience with Microsoft Office

•    Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro), Canva or equivalent digital media editing tools a plus

•    Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

•    Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

•    Demonstrated talent, and in-depth understanding of social media channels.
