Short Description

Narrative Environments Studio of Halifax seeks a junior designer to contribute to our brand and experiential graphic design projects for not-for-profits, non-government agencies, municipalities, recreation facilities, and museums.

Narrative Environments Studio is a branding and experiential graphic design (EGD) firm based in Halifax/Kjipuktuk, Nova Scotia, Canada. We strive to create healthier communities by aligning the experience of place with brand. We seek a junior designer to contribute to our brand and experiential graphic design projects for not-for-profits, non-government agencies, municipalities, recreation facilities, and museums.

The position is intended for residents of the Halifax Regional Municipality. Ideally, candidates are located in Nova Scotia, but we are open to candidates in the Maritimes and Ontario.

Your Qualifications

  • Looking for 1–3 years of experience in Graphic Design and Experiential Graphic Design with a professional degree in Industrial Design, Graphic Design from a recognized program; recent graduates will be considered based on qualifications and portfolio.
  • Exceptional design sense with the ability to integrate messaging, colour, imagery, and typography into print, digital, motion, and three-dimensional built environments
  • Proficiency in drawing in scale and familiarity with architectural construction documents, elevations, plans, and shop drawings
  • Ability to multitask while remaining efficient, poised, and organized
  • Flexibility to work both collaboratively and independently on projects of all scales and types
  • Experience with design and location planning for wayfinding programs is an asset.
  • Confident in the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Procreate, Canva, and G-Suite tools. Sketchup, CADtools, and 3D experience are a plus but not required
  • Some experience with and interest in digital and motion graphics is an asset (Adobe AfterEffects, Procreate Animate, Fusion), but it is not required
  • Ability to set and maintain project schedules and proactively make changes where needed

Schedule: Monday to Friday
