BCIT Emerging Creatives Scholarship

The BCIT Emerging Creatives Scholarship supports new students entering the Full-Time Certificate in Graphic Design (CertGD) at BCIT. This $1,000 entry scholarship is awarded twice annually —once in January and once in September — to individuals who demonstrate creative potential, personal initiative, and a passion for visual communication—whether through prior artistic work, informal projects, or lived experience.

The CertGD program offers a fast-paced, hands-on introduction to visual design, branding, layout, typography, and digital tools. It prepares students for junior-level design roles or further studies in advanced programs like the Graphic Design and Interactive Media (GDIM) diploma.

This scholarship is an opportunity for applicants to show how their creativity, curiosity, and life experiences have shaped their interest in design. Whether you’re self-taught, changing careers, or coming from a non-design background, we want to see your unique perspective.

Application submission in one PDF and must include:

  • A portfolio of design projects (3–5 pieces) which can include design projects, drawings, photography, illustration, crafts, or other creative expressions
  • Proof of application or conditional acceptance into the CertGD program
  • A short personal statement (max 500 words) about your interest in design, your background, and what led you to apply to the CertGD program
  • A valid student membership with DesCan

Submission deadline, apply by September 30, 2025.
